About the art to communicate without dialogue

Abstract:
Music Therapy is especially indicated with patients without the ability to communicate in form of a “real” dialogue. Video excerpts from the work with children who suffer from severe developmental disorders demonstrate, how useful it can be to refrain from dialogue for the time being.
 

Biographical details:
Prof. dr. Karin Schumacher studied in Vienna and Salzburg both music therapy and music- and movement education. She founded the training course for music therapy at the
University of Arts in Berlin, where she has been teaching since 1984. Her area of research is “music therapy and infant research”.
